Can I get a VAT zero-rated order for my business?

If you are ordering from within the UK VAT zone and are VAT registered please email us at mail@strangefacemasks.com with your order and valid VAT number and we will zero rate your order.

How do I reclaim VAT when using a freight forwarder?

VAT can be reclaimed directly from the appropriate authority or refunded upon receipt of official documentary evidence that these specific goods have been shipped to their final destination outside the VAT zone within three months of dispatch from our workshop. Documentary evidence needs to include your invoice number and our company name ‘Strangeface Masks’. Unfortunately we will not be able to refund VAT unless these criteria are fulfilled.

Do you offer discounts for schools and universities?

We try to keep the prices of our masks as low as possible without compromising on quality. We want them to be as accessible as possible for practitioners and educational establishments alike. For this reason our discounts are built into the price of masks sets which offer a significant saving compared to purchasing masks individually.

What materials are your masks made from?

Our masks are crafted from two premium materials:

Thermoplastic Masks - Made from HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene), a durable yet lightweight thermoplastic that's ideal for performance wear. Each mask is hand-painted and glazed to a performance-standard finish. Any eyebrows and moustaches feature high-quality synthetic fur.

Leather Masks - Handcrafted from premium vegetable-tanned neck or side leather. Eyebrows and moustaches use genuine animal fur for authentic texture and appearance.

How do I wear, care for, and store my thermoplastic mask?

Wearing Your Mask
Each mask comes with black elastic. Tie it firmly using a double knot to ensure it doesn't pull through unexpectedly. To put on your mask, hold it gently against your face first, then pull the elastic over your head. This prevents strain on the mask that can cause damage over time.

The internal foam padding is pre-shaped for comfort. If you need extra padding, attach additional foam using a glue gun—apply glue to the foam, then press it into place. If the foam feels too thick, carefully trim it with nail scissors for a better fit.

Styling Eyebrows & Moustaches
Reshape eyebrows and moustaches using a hair dryer, or lightly moisten them and leave to dry in your desired position.

Cleaning Your Mask
Use alcohol-free wipes to clean your mask between uses. Never use alcohol-based wipes, as these will quickly damage the hand-painted glaze and finish.

Storage
Store your mask in the supplied protective bag to prevent dust and scratches. Keep it away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can fade colours and weaken the paint finish.

What to Avoid

  • Alcohol-based cleaners or wipes
  • Harsh chemical cleaners
  • Contact with sharp edges or rough surfaces
  • Heat sources (radiators, heaters, hot car interiors)
  • Prolonged direct sunlight

How do I wear, care for, and store my leather mask?

Wearing Your Mask
Your leather mask comes with an adjustable strap and foam pads for comfort. Position the foam pads loosely on your forehead and cheekbones, or permanently attach them using UHU or contact adhesive. To put on your mask, hold it against your face first, then slide the elastic strap over the back of your head.

Storage
Store your mask in a box away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and drying. Ensure nothing presses against the mask, as this can cause permanent distortion of the leather.

Maintenance
Leather naturally dries over time. To keep your mask supple and preserve its finish, occasionally apply a leather conditioner. We recommend Fiebing's Leather Balm with Atom Wax, which restores moisture and provides protection without darkening the leather.

How do I look after my puppet?

Handling Your Puppet
Puppets naturally pick up oils from your hands during use. This is normal and won't harm the puppet, but occasional cleaning will keep it looking fresh.

Cleaning Your Puppet
Clean the cotton drill fabric surface using either isopropyl alcohol or dry cleaning fluid. Apply sparingly with a clean cloth and allow to air dry completely before storage.

Storage
Store your puppet in the supplied protective bag, away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Ensure nothing presses against the puppet during storage, as this can cause creasing or distortion of the fabric and structure.
